Among my readings, General Don José de San Martín holds a special place, with whom I have engaged in dialogue for many years through various books, pamphlets, and articles. A careful analysis of his life, in my opinion, shows that the vast majority of Argentines, both civilians and military, do not know it in depth. On the contrary, San Martín has been, and continues to be, used on countless occasions to defend ignoble interests, particularly through comparisons and parallels, attempting to justify pernicious deviations from our distant and recent past.

I was secluded for three weeks, surrounded by books and notes related to the San Martín campaign, which I had read several times before. As a result of that arduous task, these pages were born, which I felt compelled to write due to the difficult times our country is currently facing. I only hope it contributes to helping Argentines find the path that will lead us to position ourselves correctly so that we are not deceived as we have been so many times before.
